Flu Shot
Every year we enter the dreaded flu season. Body aches, fever, coughing, you swear you caught something from the guy across the office. Getting your yearly influenza (flu) shot is crucial when it comes to preventative healthcare. At Encino Medical, we make it fast and convenient for you to protect yourself from the flu, and prevent it from spreading to other people. Encino Medical fully stocks the influenza vaccine to ensure it’s available BEFORE the flu season begins. We want to make sure you’re protected and get your vaccine as soon as possible.
Why should I get vaccinated EARLY?
- It takes approximately two weeks for the antibodies to completely develop after receiving the vaccine.
- Early vaccination ensures your body will have time to become fully immune before the flu season begins.
- Flu season begins early sometimes. It’s important to be prepared.
Is the Flu Shot Really Necessary? How Does It Work?
- The flu shot is extremely important. Though influenza is usually treatable, it can become very serious, cause hospitalization and possibly death.
- Millions get the flu every year and thousands end up hospitalized.
- By vaccinating yourself, you’re keeping yourself and the people around you protected. This is called community immunity, or herd immunity.
- It’s an important reason for you and your family to get vaccinated so you can help keep yourselves and your community healthy.
- Getting vaccinated yearly is essential because flu viruses are always changing. One might be more prevalent one year, and a different flu virus the next.

- New influenza shots are created every year to match the predicted flu virus for the upcoming season. According to the CDC, flu vaccines cause antibodies to develop in the body about two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies provide protection against infection with the viruses that are in the vaccine. The CDC recommends all healthy individuals receive the influenza vaccine.
Flu Shot Benefits
- It can make your flu symptoms less severe if you contract it.
- Reduces the risk of death or hospitalization, especially in children and the elderly.
- Protects pregnant women and their unborn child.
- It can keep you from getting the flu/sick all together.
- According to the CDC, in 2018-2019 flu vaccination prevented an estimated 5.9 million influenza illnesses, 2.6 million influenza-associated medical visits, and 81,000 influenza-associated hospitalizations. In seasons when the vaccine viruses matched circulating strains, flu vaccine has been shown to reduce the risk of having to go to the doctor with flu by 40-60 percent.
